Graphic Arts degree show

On the 28th of may i travelled to liverpool to attend the third years graphic arts degree show. I thought this would be a valuable experience for me to see how a degree show works and to get inspiration from the high level of work on display.

It was interesting to see how different work had been exhibited in a way to compliment the style. I particularly liked how Lucy Wilson's illustrations of songbirds had been displayed in classic picture frames to match the classical stlye.

A publication containing a snippet of each students work was given out for free at the event. The design of this publication is said to confront the fact that "the course is very much a collection of idividuals" with a postcard per student bound in a "functional yet playful cardbaoard box."

I think its a really nice idea having individual postcards you can hold and keep. I would really like our year to do something similar for our degree show next year. having postcards makes you less likely to discard of the publication once your finished looking through. instead you can pick out your favourites and keep hold of them or put them on your wall.
All in all i feel like i have got lots of inspiration from the degree show and it has set me thinking of ideas for my own degree show next year. i have also visited the website showcasing the same students work: http://www.this-way-up.net
